Legal Question in Traffic Law in Wisconsin
My car was stolen and caused an accident. I got a citation. Do I need to pay that?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Yes, if you do not protect yourself by fighting any unjust citation, you will be convicted by default and fines will be imposed. If unpaid, those can lead to license loss or even jail, so you need to deal with them one way or the other. If you reported the car stolen prior to the issuance of the citation and the driver description does not match you, your lawyer should be able to get the case dismissed at the first or second hearing if you can provide him or her with a copy of stolen vehicle report, . Get a lawyer ASAP if you want to protect yourself.
