Legal Question in Traffic Law in Wisconsin
passing stopped bus
I was driving down the country roads with my sisters and I happened to pass a stopped bus. The bus had their stop sign up and I don't remember if there were any red flashing lights but my only defense was that I simply didn't know what I did was wrong. I know that you're supposed to learn these stuff in driving school but I guess I never fully caught on to it. Is it worth it going to court or should I just pay the fine?

Passing Stopped School Buses in WI, Chances for a Reduction of Charge
As the old saying goes, "ignorance of the law is no excuse." While this is true in a technical sense, a well presented argument from a lawyer of innocent and understandable ignorance is often helpful in negotiations, assuming that you do not have a terrible record. A good lawyer may be able to negotiate a far less serous outcome which would not have any impact upon your insurance rates and driving record, unlike this very serious original charge. It is therefore critical that you immediately consult with an experienced traffic lawyer, since these rights expire very quickly. My comments here are not intended as legal advice unless I am subsequently retained on the case in question.
