Legal Question in Traffic Law in Wisconsin
Can a Trucker bobtail off a truck route to his domicile?
1 Answer from Attorneys
The first question which I would have to ask "back at ya" there, Bubba, is "why not?" Assuming that a "bobtail" is a semi tractor cab without a trailer, which is road legal where you live, and not banned from your neighborhood or by any local laws or parking restrictions, and that you have a driver's license with permission to drive the vehicle, then the answer would be "yes," you should be able to take it home for the night. It's a free country, isn't it? However, if you are leaving out critical facts, such as possibly having lost your regular driver's license due to drunken driving and now having only your CDL (Commercial Driver's License"), my guess even then might be "yes;" assuming that you went straight home to sleep only and were not taking the semi out the bars.
