Legal Question in Traffic Law in Wisconsin

warrants

If I was given a speeding ticket in Wisconsin for going 30+miles

over the speed limit and a warrant is issued for my arrest, does the

warrant only apply in Wisconsin or in any state?

Re: warrants

Things are changing fast in this area, but as far as I know, it should be and always be just a Wisconsin warrant.

To check on that, call 612-348-3000 - the Hennepin Country info number, ask for the Sheriff's warrant division, and ask if they have a warrant on you. Maybe have a friend make that call. Then you would know.

The warrant is not your only problem. There is a mutual interstate computer hookup which may result in the ticket getting on your MN driving record. To check on that call 651-296-2025.

I would check with both the Sheriff and the Department of Public Safety at the above numbers repeatedly over a period of months to make sure nothing is showing up. Wisconsin might be slow getting the word out.

Of course, rather than worry about it, you might want to arrange a trip to WI to settle the matter. Wisconsin is nice. I'd feel bad if I could never go there.

Good luck.
