addendum to wills

I want to know if it is legal to add an addendum to my existing will? I wish to change the beneficiaries .

An addendum, called a codicil, is perfectly legal. But one must be careful, because it requires all the same formalities as does executing a will.

With the advent of word processing equipment, codicils are less desirable. Often it is as fast or faster to redo the original will with the changes.

But they are still useful for a very long will with a very small change, or if you do not have access to

the will in electronic format.

You should consult the attorney who wrote the will as to what he would do.
