Re: executor of estate

The terms under which you can retain occupancy should be spelled out in the document (will, deed, etc,) that created the right. If you are required to pay rent and do not do so you would be in violation of the terms of the life estate and the person with the remainder interest may be able to terminate your life estate. At the very least you could be sued for breach of contract for failing to pay rent and/or any other requirement of the lease that has not been complied with.
