Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Wisconsin

Life insurance benefit

My father died in 1991. Recently my father's cousin died and my fater was listed as the beneficary of her life insurance. My father's cousin never married, never had any children, did not have any other siblings, and her parents had preceeded her in death. She did however have other cousins. I am unsure if she had a will but my guess is she did. Because my father preceded her in death, what will happen to the life insurance proceeds? My mother was the beneficiary of my father's entire estate.

Re: Life insurance benefit

It depends on how the beneficiary designation was worded. If it was simply "To your father, if living" then it will go to the named contingent bene or to cousin's estate. But, it could have been "to your father, otherwise per stirpes to his descendants" in which case it would go to his kids.
