Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Wisconsin
Living Trust - How long do the heirs wait for information?
Our Uncle passed away last May leaving his home and most assets to our 2 daughters. The executor has denied our family access to our Uncles home and we have been told we may not recieve items the girls have requested because he may choose to sell most things. After many requests we finally recieved a copy of the will in October. It was then he informed us he is renting the house and will do so by winter.Okay the girls will have no special tangable memories of their Uncle not even the photographs. It's been 6 mo. since our Uncles death when should we expect information on where everything went, what is being done with the house ect.We saw a lawyer because we are not fools we know things are not adding up.The lawyer iformed us that the executor can do whatever he wants and we don't have a leg to stand on, but surley there is a point where he can be expected to answer for things on paper. Is it at tax time?Is it a year after our Uncle's death?Never? Why anyone would leave a living trust is a mystery to us.

Re: Living Trust - How long do the heirs wait for information?
Greetings,
It is difficult to give counsel via the internet because there are so many facts that I do not know or am not sure of. For example, if there is probate and a will involved, you can get information about what is going on. If there is a living trust, you might have to bring a legal action to find out. One question I had from reading your email is your contacting the attorney. Why don't you ask these same questions of the lawyer you went to see? He could be in a position to know the facts to be able to give you sound advice.
