Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Wisconsin

Mom died in WI-no will found-Executor?

Our mom died in Milw., WI, and nowill has been found. All 3 children are non-WI residents. How do we appoint an executor/personal administrator & most importantly does that person have to be a WI resident?

If your mother has property requiring a probate proceeding to be commenced in Wisconsin, the court will probably allow an out of state administrator, but will most likely require a bond be posted to cover any potential losses and to assure that the estate gets done. There are many ways to do probates in Wisconsin. I'd recommend you find a law firm in the area you are seeking counsel, which would be Milwaukee county or its surrounding counties. We would be glad to help you. If you contact me, I will try to connect you with one of our attorneys who do probate. Good luck!
