Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Wisconsin
Pre-nup for assets and health
I have substantial assests compared to the person I am thinking of marrying. We will both reach retirement age in the next 5 years. He is willing to sign a prenup or anything. My concern is: what responsibility do I have if he gets sick and does not have the insurance or assests to take care of his bills. He will not have medical insurance, a retirement income or savings. Also, what claim can he hve on my property, cash, retirement accounts, etc. I also loose a small weekly amount, $50, that I would receive for the next 5 years. I would, on the other hand, be able to get his current health insurance. I am in good health, but who knows.
If we do not marry, but just live together, what claim could he put on my assets.
If he pays toward the expenses of living in my home, does that give him a right for a claim.
What is your suggestion.

Re: Pre-nup for assets and health
Hello,
It is difficult to provide counsel to you via email when I do not have all the facts. If you have a prenup, then he cannot claim your assets if you marry. Even if you don't marry, it would be good to have a brief written agreement between the two of you. Let me know if you need assistance with that. send me an email and we can work this further [email protected]
