Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Wisconsin

Probate Problems

My father passed away last year. I live in another state and our family is estranged. I have looked in the on-line court records for the estate probate filing, no filings of any sort, no personnel rep.etc. How do I find out about the estate, mandatory IRS & State filings. How do I make my sister produce a copy of the will. There was 150,000+ left but no one has contacted me. If there has been enrichment of the family parties without probate what is my next step?

Re: Probate Problems

Retain counsel to compel production of the will. If title to the assets was held jointly, probate may not be required.

Hello, I agree with Attorney Slater's advice. How do you know there was $150,000 left? Whether a probate was needed or not depends on the type of assets owned at death and how they were titled.
