Legal Question in Workers Comp in Wisconsin
Work Related Injury / Racial Discrimination
My boyfriend was fired 8/25/04 from 3yr Employer. He had Workers Comp claim in June 2004 for Right Eye Burn Work Related Injury. He has medical verification on above. He has lost some vision in R eye & has scar on eyelid from incisions needed to drain infection. My boyfriend is black and after Injury occured, was accused of stealing money from company. Then was accused of other things & when he asked to see their proof of reasoning for firing him & none was given. The company is a Restraunt Food Chain in the Midwest of US. Out of 4 Stores throughout our inner & outer City, there were only 2 Black Shift Managers, my boyfriend and another Black Male. The other Managers are all Caucasion. In my opinion, they wanted to get rid of my boyfriend due to his Eye Injury because they thought he was a Lawsuit Risk to the company. His former employer does not want to give him his overdue work bonuses, or his Vacation Pay. My boyfriend was also the Lowest paid Manager there, and was told he had to work every weekend because no one else wanted to work the weekends on the closing shift. We have Employees' leaving nasty messages on our voicemail when my boyfriend was off work w/Dr's orders d/t eye injury, saying he better come to work
