Legal Question in Disability Law in Wyoming

wyoming department of family service

the wyoming department of family services( social services) refuses to use the guidelines in the ada law when forming their policy's in the federaly sponcered food stamp program. How with no ada lawyers in wyoming and being disabled with no money can we get the state of wyoming to obey the guidelines of the ada law. I have been told that they don't have to obey this law because social security dosn't. is this legal? can you help our family and the thousands of disabled being denied these programs because wyoming says that a person with m.s., diaabetis, bad heart, m.d or aids is not disabled if by some way they can work part time even though the ada law spaacificly says that they are. this affects their ability to get medical help in this state . Help!

Re: wyoming department of family service

I am a Florida lawyer who hasn't been in wyoming for five years and worse yet I am not 100% sure I completely understand your question. Still, I have litigated ADA coverage and I suspect there are a few attorneys in wyoming concerned with disability rights. There is a state wide wyoming pro-bono legal group called Wind River Legal Services in Cheyenne. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) also has some folks in Cheyenne (307-637-4565). If I haven't pushed you in the proper direction drop me an e-mail at [email protected] with additional details on how the ada is being violated. Good luck.
