Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Wyoming

Bankruptcy and student loans

I am considering filing for bankruptcy because I have credit card bills that my income can no longer handle; I have been going to school full-time since fall of last year and have had to reduce the amount of time I work, even though I still work almost thirty hours a week! None of that is enough to cover my bills, though, so bankruptcy sounds like the best option. What I want to know is whether filing for bankruptcy will affect my ability to get student loans to pay for my schooling in the future. Would it?

Re: Bankruptcy and student loans

Do you have student loans currently? It has become almost impossible to eliminate student loans through bankruptcy. Therefore, I would think that applying for new student loans after bankruptcy would not be a major issue. I would consult with a financial aid counselor at your university to get their opinion also. ph. (800) 303-0720
