Legal Question in Family Law in Wyoming

ammending divorce papers

I am a resident of Wyoming. I wish to find out what would be considered an "extreme change of circumstances" allowing me to alter my divorce papers concerning financial matters in regards to the care of my child. I am not attempting to alter visitation rights or child support. I also want to adjust the papers so that my rights-(maternal) or more adequately stated.

amending divorce papers

Remembering that I am not licensed to practice law in your state, you start out with the statement that you do not want to amend child support.... However you go on to state you want to change financial matters regarding your child. These are inconsistent statements. The only financial matters that can be changed are dealing with child support and related isues such as medical insurance, expenses, day care, educational expenses. Any property settlement terms are usually not modifiable. You should consult with an attorney in your state and provide nmore specifics about what you want changed

Material change of circumstances

A material change of circumstances in Wyomingmeans, in simple terms, that a judge thinksthings have really changed. A material changeof circumstances cannot be voluntarily imposed. For purposes of child support, there is a set percentage of change in support which constituesa material change in circumstances. If youdo not have that change in percentage, you donot have a material change. This is an issuethat is best addressed by discussing it withyour attorney. Of course, my response is limitedby the scope of your query, and things may varydepending on the facts of your case.
