Liability for property damage.

What are we liable for in an accidental grass fire causing damage to a neighbors property.

Generally speaking, the dollar amount of the economic harm [loss] experienced by the neighbor. If there was governmental fire suppression, the costs of fire fighting may also be assessed.

You're potentially on the hook for all the property damage caused by the fire - usually fair market value of replacement. If you are insured under a homeowner's policy, I'd recommend contacting your carrier and exploring whether this loss is covered by your policy and if so, make a claim (unless the damage is for less than say your deductible - then it might not make sense to file a claim).

If you were negligent in starting the fire, according to Wyoming law, yes, you may be liable.

As Mr. Romero said, I would immediately contact your homeowner's insurance carrier and give them notice of the potential claim.
