Worker's comp and auto accident questions

I was injured on the job in 1998 and have had ongoing problems recieved IDET surgery in March 2003 then was involved in an auto accident in April 2003 which resulted in whiplash and unknown if this impaired my back recovery. The auto accident insured has offered a settlement and workers comp may also. I am permantly partial disabaled now and can not return to my previous occupation. Do I need a lawyer to make sure the settlements are fair?
