Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Wyoming

Can they raise our rent all at once?

My mother and I live in a four-plex apartment building in Wyoming. Recently, our previous landlord sold the building, and the new landlord has come in. Now we hear from our ex property manager, who was fired because our landlord didn't want to pay her for her services, that our landlady wants to raise our monthly rent from $350.00 a month all at once to $500.00. Is this even legal?

Re: Can they raise our rent all at once?

It depends on your lease. You are bound to the lease amount for the term of the lease. Once the lease expires, or if it has a clause that says the landlord can raise the rent, the landlord can raise the rent to whatever she wants to charge. Your options are simply to stay or move.
