Hello ,

I was staying in PAGRI System Chawl for 20 years which was in Name of my Uncle ( Dad's -Sister Husband ) There was mutual understanding between us about the payment of the Property and there was intervention from my uncle .Now there is New lanlord who is presusring to Transfer the property to our Name.Is there any way to tackle the Landlord to avoid the transfer?Also the property is planning to go for Redevelopment.Can we transfer the Property Name after the Redevelopment of the property.

Dear Sir / Madam,

The tenancy rights vest in your uncle. The tenancy rights can only be transferred to your name should your uncle so desire and wish to, and with the consent of the landlord. The new landlord cannot compulsorily thrust the transfer on your uncle prior to redevelopment. Your uncle can even transfer the tenancy right to your name after the redevelopment of the property is completed.
