My elderly mother passed away, but her Medicaid application still has to be processed. VA cut off her widows pension and stated she owed back payments. Medicaid and the nursing home is counting her VA income as actual income. Is this correct?

I suppose my first question would be, what difference does it all make at this point? The VA won't be able to collect back payments and the Medicaid question is moot now that she is deceased. Why are you concerned?
