car loan contract
is it illegal for the creditor to mail a copy of the contract to the consumer?

I am not sure why you would think would be illegal - perhaps you meant something other than what you wrote? If so, repost your question with the revised language for a better answer.

There is nothing illegal about the creditor mailing a copy of the contract to the consumer. In fact, the consumer should demand a copy.
