how long can collectors harass you ? my debt is 9years old

They are never allowed to harass you. If they are, you likely have a claim against them. The statute of limitations on a written contract is 4 years in CA. They can report it on your credit report for 7 years. Ostensibly they can send you letters demanding payment forever, but you can tell them to stop and they must.

Do not speak to the CA. Do not pay or promise to pay anything. If sued, you will win, but you will need a lawyer with specific experience representing consumers in debt collection matters. The CA will likely be ordered to pay back your legal fees.
