Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I received a summons for a large debt that I owe to Chase Bank. I am currently working with a debt settlement company who has advised me that I need to respond to the courts within 30 days. What form do I use for my response?

You must file an answer or other response. The answer is available on a judicial counsel form Answer Contract form # PLD-C-010 rev 1/1/07. You can get these on-line. Make sure you file it at the courthouse within 30 days of being served and mail a copy to the lawyer that is suing you.

You should probably be working with a more reliable debt settlement company that will provide a lawyer to do that for you or better yet hire a lawyer because then your creditor has to deal with the lawyer instead of you. Right now your creditor doesn't have to deal with your debt settlement company, and they can continue to call you, but by law they have to go through your lawyer.

Hope this helps and good luck.
