Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I am being sued by a creditor. How to I "answer" the lawsuit? Is it still possible to contact their attorney to work out a payment structure?

You answer the lawsuit by filing a paper called an answer at the courthouse where the suit was filed within 30 days of being served. If you do not have money to file the answer you can request that the filing fees be waived and there are forms for that too.

Yes it is but do not delay in filing your answer unless the attorney puts it in writing that you have longer to file your answer.

Usually you can settle for pennies on the dollar depending on your circumstances and who your creditor is. Remember the more you can pay in a lump sum the better deal you will get. Make sure they send you the deal in writing and keep a copy of it. Start with 25% of the amount or better yet let them make the first offer.

Hope that helps and good luck to you.
