Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Someone is calling me at work claiming to be an investigating officer and says there is a warrant for my arrest for fraud. I failed to pay a payday advace and that is what he told me. Can they really arrest me for that?

Sure.

You can double-check with an attorney in your area. An attorney should be able to find out if there are any cases pending against you.

Good luck!

Yes, if the lender files criminal charges. Hire an attorney asap.

I would hire an attorney to find out if there is a warrant. But often these things are handled civilly. If this investigator is actually a bill collector and if there is no warrant out for you he/she is acting illegally. If the investigator tells you that by paying the bill the warrant can be withdrawn he/she is lying or there is no warrant out for you.
