Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I received a citation for providing alcohol to minors. I was at Lucky Strike with a friend and this girl decided to sneak a sip from my drink so while I was talking to my friend, she took a sip from the straw. By the time I saw her, we were both surrounded by undercover cops and they would not listen to me when I explained to them that I didn't know she did that. She is 19, so I got blamed and cited. Do I need a lawyer for this to win my case? Also, I am on probation from the mall. The lucky strike is located on the promenade. I was there after the mall was closed and outside on the promenade. Could I get introuble and charged for violating probation? Is that actually a violation since the mall was closed? Also, the citation is not for violation of probation. Would the judge bring it up?

You do not need a lawyer to win your case, but unless you know the inner workings of a courtroom, it is always advisable that you have representation.

If you cannot afford a lawyer, you should ask that one be appointed you.
