Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Taking the title of a car for my DUI boyfriends

My Boyfriend has a DUI, so he doesnt have a car or a license. He wants to buy a car and put in my name so he has a car to drive to work. he said that he would pay for the car and the insurance monthly, plus registration. But if he was to get pulled over in this car then he told me to just tell the police that he stole it instead of getting me in trouble. Should i do this for him??

Whaddayou, nuts? He wants you to commit the crime of making a false police report?? And you are seriously asking whether this is a good idea??

Don't ever give a car that's in your name to an unlicensed person to drive. You could become liable for millions of dollars when his next DUI victim sues you. Tell him to take the bus.

Mr. Stone is correct. Do not do this! And your boyfriend should not be asking you to do this.

#1, I would drop the boyfriend just for asking me to do this.

#2, If I tell him I'm not going to do it and he gets mad, I would double-drop him.

Tell your parents about your boyfriend's request and see if they aren't horrified.

If he goes drinking and driving in a car owned by you, the person who is injured can sue YOU because you knew he didn't have a license, and that he had a previous DUI. This makes you liable, too.
