Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have a child support order in San Diego. My sons father has taken off to Washington and owes me around $15,000 in back support. Child support told me all they can do is suspend his CA drivers licence but since he doesnt have a CA licince they really cant do anything. Can I file a support order out in his current state or am I basically out of my sons support and as long as he is out of state he doesnt have to pay?

If he is employed you can do a wage assignment and collect from his employer. You can register the order in aother state and enforce it there. If he has California asseets you can collect against those assets. You could file a contempt action and when he does not appear have a warrant issued for his arrest. You do have option.

You could also have the child support agency in the state where the father lives, enforce the CA order. But, you will have to contact them for their help. Good luck!
