termination of parental rights

Please,I have been raising my grandson since birth,now 6yrs.He has never known his birth mother,believes I am mama.I have never recieved monies from anyone for this child,birth parents abandon him yrs ago.I am working on self adoption but need help knowing how/what to do regarding termination of parental rights on birth mother,I do not know her whereabouts?Please help me resolve this so we can move toward adoption.I was court ordered per.guardianship years ago. Sincerely

If you adopt your grandchild you will be responsible for the cost of rearing your grandchild. As it presently stands if for some reason you have financial problems you would not be eligible to receive public assistance unless you are destitute.

To terminate parental rights you may be able to get assistance from the department of social services. Prepare a petition for adoption. Terminating parental rights is a common process for them. Also have you asked the parents to sign a reliaquishment of their parental rights? Give them the option to either reliquish their rights or you will ask for child support payments from them.
