Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

What is the statute of limitations for pursuing a hospital after a transient / criminal came into my room in the middle of the night following surgery, disconnected my IV bag and tampered with other devices in my room? This happened in approximately 2004 but I'm still having nightmares about it.
