Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

Law Firm Website

I am graduating from law school and wanting to open up my own law firm. I plan to practice in a very specialized federal law field. Can anyone tell me how to find a good website designer who specializes in search engine optimization to build my website? Thank you!

Re: Law Firm Website

Congratulations on your graduation!

Most reputable web designers know how to create a good site that will get you good search engine ranking. Choose a designer on the basis of their DESIGN ability, not their search optimization credentials.

'Search Engine Optimization' is a bit of a crapshoot. SEO 'services' are in most cases no more effective than just taking the time to craft your content carefully. My experience is that the best way to stay high in the search engine results is to regularly update your website's content, make sure your content includes the likely search words 'in context' (rather than in meta tags, or in a block of keywords).

It's also a good idea to include links to other relevant sites, blogs, etc. in your content... pages that link to/from other sites get better ranking.

Personally, I've just switched over to blogging software to maintain my site(s). This makes it easy to post articles about stuff I'm working on, or that I think prospective clients will find interesting.

Congratulations for graduating from law school, and good luck on the Bar exam. I would google [web site design services] and I am sure you will find plenty of folks in that business.
