Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

guardianship

Is there a difference between ''guardian'' and ''legal guardian''? I am my grandson's primary care-giver during the day. What is necessary to establish me as his ''guardian'' so that I can take him places, get medical attention, etc. His mother has sole custody, so I don't think I can be his ''legal guardian''.

Re: guardianship

In most instances, a letter signed by the Mother should be sufficient to authorize medical care and school enrollemnt, especially when the mother can be reached at work by telephone.
