Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Contractual agreement

The contract says that one should not provide any service in any form to a client, where the contract has ended before the said period by the client. If it is broken, then one has got to pay the penalty.

I'd like to know, what is the way out w/o paying the

penalty, but provide the services to the same client. Will this be feasible? Note that I am a contract employee to a placement company, put the contract on me. Appreciate your help and thanks in advance - Sylvia
