Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Former employee prevented from seeing theatrical productions

After being asked to resign from a teaching position at a private high school, I have been prevented from attending public performances (open to anyone) put on by the theatre department at the school. The only basis for denying me admission is that I was previously an employee. Is this reason enough to prevent me from attending performances if I am willing to purchase a ticket? Why or why not?

It depends on why you no longer are working there. If you were a disruptive influence, might distract from the performance, or negatively affect the morale of others, then there's good reason to bar you from the performance.

If it is a private school, I presume the performance is on private property or at a facility controlled or rented by the school. Chances are they can legally bar you from the event. I suggest that you just move on with your life and let it go.
