Legal Question in Employment Law in California

employment clarrification

i am a skating instructor in CA, i teach classes for the rink for a paycheck that they take taxes out of. I also teach private lesson for which i pay them a percentage of. Does this make me an employee or an independent contractor? my job was not for a specific time line it was indefinite by desgin.

Hard to say. The determination of whether someone is a independent contractor vs. an employee is very fact specific and requires further analysis and facts that you have not presented. Generally, it appears that like you might be fulfilling both roles.
