Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I recently left my job, resigned without notice. Now, my ex-employer has contacted me and made reference to "slander" (I sent an email to several former colleagues, factually telling them why I resigned), and has made a vague refeence to missing client files, that he is hinting he thinks I have (which I do not). What should I do?

Behave ethically and within the law. The proper advice is always to remain silent and not 'bad mouth' past employers or anyone else. If threatened with legal action, discuss the situation with an attorney and take his advice.
