Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Should I seek legal counsel?

I have been employeed with the same company going on about 10 years now. There have recently been thefts of collected money at the building I work in and since I deal with the safe in the office (along with about 5 other people) and am the supervisor over two of the employees that deal with our daily deposit, have been subjected to I feel an unnecessary amount of questioning. There are at least 5 other supervisors/team leaders that collect and handle money throughout the day and also have access to the safe. The HR and the Finance director have been wanting to speak with me on two different occassions regarding the process of how our money is deposited each day and it almost seems like they are trying to find flaws in my statements to try and incriminate me for what is happening. I know that I didn't do this crime but feel that my employer now is trying to find any error or mistake recently or old to get rid of me. The other employees that did have access to the money have not had such extensive questioning that I have received. I feel that I am being pointed out in this situation. It gives me an uncomfortable feeling when I am at work because I feel that I am not trusted at all. Should I seek legal counsel for this? Thanks.

Re: Should I seek legal counsel?

Companies have the right to investigate potential crimes, with some reasonable rules about what can be done. Consulting with an experienced attorney will give you an opinion on whether there is anything you can do in this situation. Contact me if interested.

It certainly could not hurt retaining counsel in trying to nip this unfortunate matter in the bud, either thru negotiations with your employer asserting your claims/defenses in a legal, but diplomatic fashion. If you would like a free consultation regarding your situation, contact us directly hereafter.
