Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Hello, I own a condo and I decided to get a roommate(an older, full-time student- 25 or 26 years old). She has been with me for two months without incident. Last week she left a towel on the kitchen counter, I decided to move it so that my cat would not get to it. As I went to move it, I noticed that there was something wrapped inside- it turns out it was a few of my personal items. Nothing major, just petty items, like my tweezers, an old gift card, a small sample perfume, etc. I was shocked and confused. I left the stuff on the counter to give her the opportunity to come back and make things right. She never did of course, and now I have no proof that she took these items from my bedroom (into which she is not allowed, but I had not locked my bedroom at the time). I gave her notice, and cited another reason for asking her to leave- since I have two indoor cats and I didn't want to incite her to do anything worse, I figured I'd play nice and give her regular 30 day notice. I would like to get her out sooner though, because I'm very uncomfortable having here there. Do I have any other recourse? Can I legally give her 3 day notice? Do I file charges for taking my items? I'm just not sure what to do and I'm highly stressed thinking I have to put up with her for the next 30 days.

If she is on a month to month tenancy, you should give her 30 days notice to move and if she doesn't you can have her removed without a court action. Consult a lawyer as soon as you can...Good luck..
