Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Housing Question

In February of 2004 I applied for a section 8 apartment at that time I explained to the Manager and also mentioned on my app that I did indeed have an eviction on my record; this eviction had been taken care of and I have cour paper to prove (the eviction took place in 200) recently in Feb 2007 my application was turned down because of my eviction which technically the knew of.. ! I tried to understand why they would wait 3 years to turn me down because of this but they couldn't really explain.. did I do something to mislead them or did they mislead me? Thanks

Re: Housing Question

Once you have an eviction on your record, most landlords will not rent to you without a cosigner.

Even though seven years have passed, I have heard of landlords who refused to rent 15 years after an eviction.

I don't know who misled who, but she should ask them why you were denied.
