Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My tenants are claiming that no attached heaters in the apt. I rented to them violates California law. Is that true?

There are many many apartments and condos that do not have attached heat to them in Holllywood and West Hollywood.

We all use space heaters.

As a landlord you have to provide a heating system that complies with the building and fire codes, and space heaters are illegal. Your tenants don't have to pay rent until you remediate this condition.
