Legal Question in Product Liability in California

Person A buys a guitar with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty against defects. Person 2 buys it 6 months later. Person 2 attempts to get warranty service, as a bonified 2nd owner, but manufacturer refuses to make repairs under warranty because Person 2 is not the original purchaser.

Is this legal? This is a purchase that was made in California. Person 2 is also a resident of California.

Thank you.
