Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado

i lent my freind 400 dolalrs to pay back someone he owed money. he told me he could pay me back within the week. he promised he would get the money by the end of the week but then kept avoiding me. he eventually lied about his whereabouts and left colege early to avoid paying me back. i didnt do a promissary note but i do have witnesses to the lending and proof of his transaction of sending the 400 dollars i lent him to the person he owed money. i'm wondering if i have a case against him or if i should just not try to settle this in court

From the facts you have provided, it does appear you might have a case. Nonetheless, we need more facts to make a more accurate assessment. It all depends on how much evidence you have.

A reasonable step to take would be to send him a demand letter with help of a business attorney. Contact our business law office at 303-781-1533 for more information.
