Legal Question in DUI Law in Colorado

Interlock Term Requirements

I recieved a third DUI in December of 2000 in CO. Upon a one year revocation I was allowed to install the interlock on my car in June of 2002 for a term of 4 years. In just under two years I have not registered one high bac or been 'locked out' of my car.

Essentially, what is the law about early removal of an interlock device both legally (with state approval) and illegally (without)?

Kind Regards,

Brad

Re: Interlock Term Requirements

There is no early removal. If you get caught driving without it, you license will be taken away for the balance.

Re: Interlock Term Requirements

Removing it yourself would be, just as you said in your question, illegal. Not a recommended course of action. As far as early removal legally, the only way to accomplish that would be to convice the original sentencing judge to modify the sentence. Depending on the judge, that can be a difficult thing to do.
