Legal Question in DUI Law in Colorado

Moving to Colorado

I'm planning to move to Colorado from North Carolina. I have been convicted of three DWI's. The first one was back in 1994 I blew .08. The second was in May 2003 and I blew a .09 and the third was in August 2003 (refusal no BAC). There were no accidents or wrecks with any of them and I was over the age of 21 in all three cases. My qestion is would I be able eventually to get some type of driving previledges in the state of Colorado?

You may be able to get a license in August.

Re: Moving to Colorado

Yes -

the interstate compact for Drivers Licenses does apply in Colorado, so if you are suspended in NC, then you will be suspended in CO. But, if NC has a lifetime suspension or similar, then CO will allow a DL after one year of suspension.

It is a little tricky to get all the information, but I did this exact thing for a client that moved from Florida. Do not get any traffic tickets - they will use the last traffic ticket as proof that you were driving on that day and we have to show that you have not driven for one year.
