Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

divorce and inheritance

I have just inherited with siblings undivided interest in real estate. I further may be gifted land or money starting this year from my family. If I were to get divorced would my husband be entitled to my inheritance or gifts? If money gifts were taken and invested with him as joint would he be entitled to that also?

Thankyou in advance.

Re: divorce and inheritance

Gifts, including inheretance, are separate property and not normally subject to division in divorce, unless they are co-mingled with marital property, or given to the marriage through failure to segregate them from marital property.
