Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

Plaintiff's Criminal record

I have been falsly accused of slandering a person's good name. The so-called victum is a paralegal educated in prison. I live in Texas, but the altercation took place in Colorado. The victum has a history of assaults, child abuse ect. His ''good name'' is not so good. I am told that I cannot use criminal material against him in a civil case. Is this true? He is trying to get $50,000 for his trouble.

Re: Plaintiff's Criminal record

It depends on the type of slander and the age of the convictions and type of convictions. If the slander has anything to do with his convictions, then the evidence will likely come in. If these are felony convictions and they are 5 years old or more, then they cannot be used to impeach credibility.
