Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

Somebody paid me up front to do personal training sessions, but then after 2 sessions

told me they were moving and wanted a refund. I told them I don't do refunds. No contracts were signed, but now he is suing me for the 300 he wants refunded. Do I have to pay him back even though we never signed anything and he is the one who terminated the commitment?
