IF a tenant with no lease has been given six months notice and will not vacate property ( note this is not a residence but a horse farm that is leased) what action should be taken and how long can they stay?

You will most likely have to evict the tenant. A proper Notice to Quit will need to be served on the tenant and then an eviction proceeding commenced with the court. The timing may depend on the specific facts.
