Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

Contesting a will

My grandmother passed away. I was told by a family member that since my father passed away, that his 3 children were left $10.00 to divide three ways. I was also advised not to contest the will, that there was nothing in the estate. I have now found out that there are several $$ in stocks, and that my uncle is being compensated by the family so he will not contest the will. Do I have grounds to contest this will?

Re: Contesting a will

You have not provided enough information to answer your question. If your father was left $10 in the will and there was no undue influence exerted on your grandmother and if she was competent to make a will, you are likely stuck. If there were problems with the will you might.

Whether the matter is worth pursing will depend on the amount of money involved, as litigation is expensive and most lawyers, including me, would not handle it on a contingent fee basis.

Will contests are time sensitive. If the will has already been admitted to probate, you have 30 days to appeal.
