Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Fictitious Name Registration

If I have a corporation (i.e., Maple Avenue, Inc.) and I open a store named Maple Avenue General Store, do I have to register Maple Avenue General Store as a fictitious name even if I only use Maple Avenue, Inc. on all business papers, checks, etc.?

Re: Fictitious Name Registration

If Maple Avenue, Inc. is doing business as "Maple Avenue General Store", then you should register this name as a fictitious name (DBA) for your corporation. You may also want to consider registering the name as a trademark in Florida and/or federally (nationwide) to restrict its use by possible competitors now or in the future.

I would urge you to register. You do use a fictitious name for the store.

yes. Anytime you operate under a name different than your corporate name you need to register the name.
